LARC Tutoring

Peer Tutorials
LARC Peer Tutoring is the only campuswide tutoring program officially recognized by UCI. A LARC peer tutorial is an interactive, small group session of 6 to 8 students conducted by an undergraduate peer tutor. Tutorials meet for 50 minutes twice a week. The primary goal of the tutorial is to help students understand and retain course-specific material to promote their academic success. Specific activities may include problem solving, group discussion, collaborative exercises, and other projects actively involving students in their own learning.

Peer Tutors are carefully selected based on their academic record, command of the subject, faculty recommendations, communication skills, and enthusiasm for helping other students. Tutors are trained, supervised, and regularly evaluated by LARC professional staff. Studies show that students who use LARC tutoring academically outperform students in the same classes who do not use LARC.

To enroll in a Peer Tutorial, visit the Tutoring & Adjunct Schedule to choose a tutorial for your course and lecture, then enroll through WebReg. (Note: Peer Tutorials ARE lecture specific.) For information regarding Peer Tutorial fees, please visit our Fees & Policies page.

Advanced Tutorials
A LARC Advanced Tutorial is a small group session led by a LARC professional who has past experience as a LARC tutor and has graduated from UCI. The Advanced Tutorial helps students review and clarify material for a course, as well as teaches students study strategies to help them succeed in the class. Like Peer Tutorials, Advanced Tutorials meet for 50 minutes twice a week.

To enroll in an Advanced Tutorial, visit the Tutoring & Adjunct Schedule to choose a tutorial for your course, then enroll through WebReg. (Note: Advanced Tutorials ARE lecture specific.) For information regarding Advanced Tutorial fees, please visit our Fees & Policies page.

Adjunct Classes
LARC Adjuncts provide support for academic courses in various disciplines. They require enrollment, meet twice weekly, and are conducted by LARC's senior staff of professional educators. Adjuncts aim to improve student performance by offering strategies and skills that help students conceptualize materials taught in their academic courses. Students enrolled in LARC Adjuncts can also make appointments with LARC professionals to get individual assistance with their work.

To enroll in an Adjunct Class, visit the Tutoring & Adjunct Schedule, where the Adjunct classes are listed with Peer and Advanced Tutorials, then enroll through webreg. (Note: Adjunct Classes are NOT lecture specific.) For information regarding Adjunct fees, please visit our Fees & Policies page.
